Culture, History and City of CivilizationTrabzon continues to be an outstanding city in every period of its history and again, continues to be an important city and geographical area in the era when we live in the field of tourism as it is in every area with its history, nature, cultural richness and entrepreneurial people.
Sumela Monastery
Sumela Monastery, within the borders of Altındere Village of Maçka District, was built on sheep rock cliffs at the skirts of Karadağ Mountain which overlooks the Altındere Valley. Among the populace it is known as Virgin Mary Monastery.
Uzungöl
Uzungöl, which is 99 km away from Trabzon and 19 km away from Çaykara district, is at a height of 1090 meters from sea level. It is a natural landscape narrated that the soil and rocks of the valley slopes settled in Şerah village are covered with rocks in the 1600s.
Hagia Sophia Museum
It sits at the western entrance of the city along the on the highway. This museum is one of the most important buildings of Byzantine monuments in Trabzon. Between 1238 and 1263, during the time of Manuel Komnenos I, it was built as a monastery church with the use of the Byzantine style, the Georgian onion dome, and the harmony with the Seljuk stone procession.
Hıdırnebi Plateau
Hıdırnebi Plateau located in the town of Akçaabat, 1450 - 1500 m at its height, its natural beauty, is one of the most important holiday towns and accommodation sought and preferred in the Black Sea Region with its Yayla City facilities built in 1998. Road Summer - Passengers are transported to Yayla, which is open in winter, with commercial vehicles and tours.
İpekyolu Museum
In modern museology, it can be clearly seen that museums have high importance for the society in various ways.
Sera Lake
Sera Lake is an important natural beauty of Trabzon and Akçaabat, located 12 km to Trabzon within the borders of the Yıldızlı Neighborhood, 8 km away from Akçaabat. Its length is 1200 m. The average width is 150 m. The deepest point is 20 m. Sera is a lake formed by the closure of the Sera River by a landslide in 1950.
Atatürk Pavilion
The pavilion was built by the Banker Konstantin Kabayanidis as a summer residence on the Soğuksu ridge, which oversees Trabzon, in the early 19th century. The building, which is influenced by European and Western Renaissance architecture, has been used with large and fancy European symbols. Atatürk Mansion is a 4-storey registered building with a basement floor.
